Santa Clara University’s youngest-ever graduate is leaving his job as a software engineer for Elon Musk’s SpaceX to work for another billionaire, Ken Griffin, according to Fortune magazine. This week, Quazi started his new job at Citadel Securities in New York City, Fortune reported.
Quazi appeared on KRON4 News when he was just 10 years old to talk about his life, which included attending a 4th grade elementary school class during the day and taking night classes at Las Positas Community College in the East Bay. He could already code in 12 languages. (Watch his interview on KRON4 at age 10 below).
The Bay Area’s whiz-kid later graduated from Santa Clara University with a degree in computer science and engineering when he was 14 years old.
Quazi moved with his mother from the Bay Area to Washington, where he designed software for two years at SpaceX. (Watch his interview on KRON4 at age 14 below).
This summer, Quazi moved to the Big Apple to start a new career in finance. Fortune reported that the teen turned down job offers from Silicon Valley’s top Artificial Intelligence labs, and instead chose Citadel Securities. The company describes itself as a “next-generation capital markets firm.”
Quazi told Business Insider, “I felt ready to take on new challenges and expand my skill set into a different high-performance environment. Citadel Securities offered a similarly ambitious culture, but also a completely new domain, which is very exciting for me.”
