On Aug. 13, the Prince William County Police Department said it began investigating the possible threat to Osbourn Park High School after a post was made on social media. As the investigation continued, officers learned that a 15-year-old student had posted a picture on Snapchat, that indicated violence at the school.
The image was brought to the attention of law enforcement, which prompted the investigation. Officers later determined that there was no credible or active threat to students, faculty or staff.
The investigation led officers to obtain a detention order for the 15-year-old boy, and he was taken into custody on Aug. 17.
He was charged with threats of bodily injury on school property and held at the Juvenile Detention Center.
