Victim identified as shooter’s father in East Bay homicide: PD

(KRON) — The 61-year-old man shot and killed near the 4600 block of Helpert Court in Pleasanton on Aug. 15 was identified as Lance Chan, the father of the suspected shooter, 28-year-old Lucas Chan, the Pleasanton Police Department announced Monday.

The shooting happened during an argument, police said. Lucas Chan was arrested and booked into the Alameda County Santa Rita Jail for homicide.

During the homicide investigation, detectives also found improvised explosive devices, a 3D printer and multiple ghost guns at Lucas Chan’s Pleasanton home. The explosives were removed by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team.

“Currently, there is no known threat to public safety,” Pleasanton PD said.
