Vacaville PD said officers were alerted by a shopper of a woman “slumped over the wheel for several hours with the engine running” at the Vacaville Premium Outlets mall on Tuesday, Aug. 12.
Paramedics and police officers responded to the mall, contacting the woman in a Subaru, later identified as Oregon resident Amanda Schauffler.
Schauffler initially told officers she was sleeping and could not provide identification, Vacaville PD said. Police said officers noticed drugs and drug paraphernalia “in plain view” inside the car.
Officers ordered Schauffler out of the vehicle with her dog, and she complied.
Vacaville police said officers found a “significant amount of fentanyl and indicators it was being possessed and transported for sales.”
Schauffler was arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail on felony charges related to the possession and transportation of narcotics for sale.
Schauffler’s dog was taken by the Solano County Humane Animal Services.
Police said the Subaru went to “car jail.”
