The gunfire was reported around 4:48 p.m., sheriff’s officials said.
When deputies from the Lancaster and Palmdale stations arrived, they found a woman in her 40s suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. Deputies attempted to render aid, but Los Angeles County fire personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.
Not far away, investigators said deputies located an SUV pulling a trailer. Inside were two men who had also been shot. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released the victims’ names, and no suspect description has been made public.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives, led by Lt. Steven De Jong, are handling the investigation, which remains in its early stages.
The Sheriff’s Department urged anyone with information about the shooting to contact its Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Anonymous tips can be submitted through L.A. Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477 or online.
