Lucero San Pedro-Castro, 29, of Baldwin Park, is suspected of entering California Closets warehouse at 5921 Skylab Road Monday morning, opening fire at two workers, hitting one and missing the other.
San Pedro-Castro later fled the scene in her vehicle but was stopped about two hours later by a South Gate Police Department officer. That officer fatally shot her after she allegedly pointed her gun at them.
On Tuesday, the Huntington Beach Police Department released new details about the investigation, including that the two victims were workers at the business, and that the shooter was their coworker.
The one wounded victim suffered major injuries that required the use of a tourniquet to stop the bleeding, but police officials said he is expected to survive.
California Closet Company released a statement Monday following the violent shooting, saying that it was “doing everything we can” to support the investigation.
“Our hearts are with those injured or otherwise impacted, and we wish them a full recovery and strength for their families and community,” the statement reads in part.
The investigation into that shooting remains ongoing, police said. Anyone with information is urged to contact HBPD Detective Sgt. Anthony Pham at 714-878-5640. Anonymous tips can be provided through Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-847-6227.
Anyone with information about the fatal shooting in South Gate is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau.
