(KRON) — The hottest new restaurant in Walnut Creek is temporarily closed. Original Joe’s has shut down due to a kitchen fire that broke out overnight Monday, KRON4 has learned.

There is no timeline for when the restaurant will reopen, the restaurant said. No one was injured.

Original Joe’s is calling the incident a “minor kitchen fire.” The restaurant said in a statement Monday afternoon to “apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate (the community’s) understanding.”

Thankfully, everyone is safe with no injuries. We are grateful to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District for their quick response and containment. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Thank you to everyone – from the Greater East Bay region and beyond – who joined us as we opened our doors. We are truly humbled by your excitement and patience during an incredible opening weekend. We look forward to reopening as quickly as possible and will share updates as they become available.

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District crews responded to the fire just after midnight, officials said.

The fire broke out just days after its grand opening on Thursday, Aug. 14 at Broadway Plaza where lines were out the door. The Walnut Creek Original Joe’s marks the first time in its nearly 90-year history that the San Francisco restaurant expanded to the East Bay.

The City of Walnut Creek declared Aug. 14 as Original Joe’s Day.

This story will be updated as we learn more.
