Oregon State’s Rademacher wins gold at U20 World Championships

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Oregon State wrestler Justin Rademacher took home the U20 World Championships title in the 97kg category on Monday after a dominant 4-0 performance.

The West Linn, Ore. native is now a two-time U20 World medalist after winning bronze last year in this event. He started off the competition pinning Turkey’s Ibrahim Benekli (17-6). The sophomore followed that up with a 9-1 win over Nikolaos Karavanos in the quarterfinals and a 16-5 victory over Konstantine Petriashvili in the semis.

The Beaver clinched gold in the finals with a 4-1 win over Magomedgadzhi Magomedov. This is another victory for Rademacher after winning titles in the 97kg category at the U20 Pan American Championships, the Senior Pan American Championships and the U20 US Open.

He will return to Oregon State’s lineup this upcoming season (2025-26) as a sophomore after utilizing a redshirt last year.
