VERMILION PARISH, LA. (KLFY) — The Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office issued a “Drone No Fly Zone” for the Gueydan Duck Festival, Sheriff Eddie Langlinais said.
According to Langlinais’s Facebook post, if drone pilots wish to fly within the zone they would have to contact the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office to register as a participant to coordinate flight plans with the VPSO drone pilot.
Langlinais said the Federal Aviation Administration will assist deputies at the Duck Festival by performing ramp checks on drones and verifying pilot credentials upon arrival at the festival.
This restriction will be in effect for the duration of the Duck Festival which runs from Thursday to Sunday.
