Fresno Unified goes over upgrades after first day of school

While students and teachers are back at home, the district is going over the effectiveness of new policies and technology that debuted today.

The district’s big ticket item on Monday was the bus route tracker called Zume.

It allows parents to track their students from the bus stop to the campus.

The app lets parents know in real time where their student’s bus is and if it’s on time and/or running behind schedule.

“It’s just like a plane flight when they are supposed to be at school, when they leave school, and where they are around town,” said FUSD School Board President Valeria Davis.

The testing phase will continue through Tuesday before its official launch this Wednesday.

“We want to remind them to make sure they keep their emergency information updated and then on Wednesday, they will be able to go to our website and sign up for the app.” Paul Rosencrans, the transportation director at FUSD, said.

The app isn’t the only change the district has made this year.

Other changes include limiting the number of entrances to campuses while also adding more security cameras so administrators know who is on campus.
