Devastating fire in Rockford leaves 2 people without a home

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Two people were left without a home after a house fire in Rockford on Monday night.

Rockford Fire responded to the scene to find smoke coming from the two-story home on Oak Street at around 8 p.m.

Firefighters saved four cats while putting out the fire.

No one was injured during the incident.

The American Red Cross is helping the two residents find a place to stay.

The fire was determined to be an accident, but officials are further investigating to find the cause of the blaze.
