North Carolina Task Force 3, based in Charlotte, departed early Tuesday morning for Edenton, where they will stage in preparation for potential flooding and other weather-related emergencies.
Charlotte Fire Battalion Chief Joshua Johnson said the team was notified of deployment orders at approximately 4:45 p.m. Thursday and was rolling out by 8 a.m. the next morning. The team includes firefighters trained in swift water rescue and equipped with boats, high water vehicles, and specialized gear to assist in a wide range of emergencies.
While their initial destination is a staging area, they may be moved at any point based on flooding or storm damage across the region.
It is about being ready. The citizens of this state depend on us. We will not let them down.
Battalion Chief Johnson
Crews could be deployed for up to 14 days. While the situation along the coast remains fluid, Charlotte Fire is prepared to assist wherever needed to protect lives and property.
