According to a press release from the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, 24-year-old Varinderpal Singh of Edinburgh was booked into jail for his alleged role in an incident that occurred on Sunday. Singh is still in police custody on a 72-hour jail hold.

Sheriff’s deputies began looking into Varinderpal’s alleged activity around 3:22 a.m. Sunday. At that time, law enforcement received a report that indicated staff at a local hospital provided care to a person who said she had been a victim of sexual assault.

Upon further investigation of the incident, deputies determined the assault occurred at a gas station Singh was an attendant for. Investigators reported that the gas station is located in the 13000 block of U.S. Highway 31 North.

As of this article’s publication, no additional information on Singh’s case had been made available.
