Catawba County pool party shooting suspects in court
The shooting happened on June 1, 202, when authorities said multiple gunmen opened fire at the event, which had more than 100 people in attendance. Police believe the attack was connected to gang activity and that it was carefully planned in advance using social media.
The suspects, Nathaniel Killian, Ke’Andre O’Neal Mack, Toland Huff Jr., Izaiah Kane, and Charles Rodell Kincaid III, are each facing a long list of charges, including 63 counts of attempted murder. That number reflects how many people were believed to be directly in harm’s way during the shooting.
They’re also charged with conspiracy for allegedly coordinating the attack beforehand.
Tragically, 58-year-old Shawn Hood was killed during the chaos. Investigators now say Hood was not a target. Instead, they believe he was accidentally shot by someone returning fire in self-defense. At least 11 other people were injured.
Authorities confirmed they suspect gang ties with a nationally affiliated group but have not yet revealed the name of the organization.
