Deputies said they received a complaint in December 2024 regarding an incident that reportedly occurred in early November. Detectives, with assistance from the Children’s Advocacy Center, conducted multiple forensic interviews and gathered witness statements before identifying a suspect.
The suspect, Herbert Joseph Poisso, 18, was arrested Aug. 13 at his residence in Colfax with assistance from the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office. He was booked into the Grant Parish Jail on a warrant for one count of third-degree rape and later extradited to Rapides Parish.
On Aug. 14, Poisso was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center, where he remains held on a $100,000 bond, authorities said.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Susan Mosley at the Criminal Investigation Division–Tioga Substation at 318-641-6000.
