The police department told News 19 that officers were responding to a shots fired call in the area of Patton Road and Telstar Circle.
HPD spokesperson Sgt. Chris Jackson said officers discovered evidence that an apartment had been shot into. They determined the shots came from the apartment across the breezeway. None of the people inside the apartment were injured.
The suspect, 38-year-old Edward Deon White barricaded himself inside his apartment. The HPD said evidence showed he was armed and dangerous, so assistance was requested.
According to the HPD, the suspect had stopped communicating with police just after 5 p.m. Sunday. Officers went inside the apartment, where they said the man surrendered peacefully.
White was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling.
