Emporia State is excited for the new campaign as the team looks to bounce back after losing its last three games of the season in 2024.
There are many returning faces for the Hornets from last year’s squad, but they also have some new faces, like North Alabama transfer quarterback Ben Harris, who
“We feel confident with Ben being the starter right now,” Higgins said. “He would be the starter if we played a game tomorrow, and I don’t think that will change right now.”
Harris spent three seasons at North Alabama and threw for 274 yards and caught a touchdown pass in a trick play in 2024 with the Lions.
“I’ve been in a lot of systems, but this one is complex and simple at the same time,” Harris said. “I’ve learned a lot about my body, footwork, and things I can do on the run, so it [the system] has really benefited me.”
Harris and the Hornets will host Minot State on Aug. 28 to kick off the season.
