
BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) — Alize Smith, 28, has been sentenced to life in prison for killing Andrew Hintt and his two sons, Benjamin, 7, and Sebastian, 5, in their Belvidere home in 2021.
Their bodies were found on Dec. 19, 2021, inside their Union Avenue Home. Hintt was found in the living room, and the two boys in the master bedroom, all three shot in the head.
Smith, of Huntley, was charged with the crime in January 2022.
According to prosecutors, Smith and Hintt were involved in selling marijuana, and Smith owed the other $10,000 at the time Hintt and his boys were killed.
He was found guilty of murder in May 2025.
Smith’s attorneys have filed a motion to appeal.
