Pleasanton police arrest homicide suspect, discover suspicious devices

(KRON) – Possible improvised explosive devices were found in a homicide suspect’s residence, according to the Pleasanton Police Department.

Pleasanton police responded to the 4600 block of Helpert Court at approximately 9:40 p.m. on Friday due to reports of a shooting. 

Arriving officers located a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was later declared deceased. The victim’s identity is being withheld until the next of kin is notified.

Authorities identified 29-year-old Pleasanton resident Lucas Chan as the suspect. Chan was arrested and booked into the Alameda County Santa Rita Jail for homicide. 

Pleasanton PD said detectives found “suspicious devices” inside Chan’s home and contacted the Alameda County Sheriff’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team. The department said the devices were “possible improvised explosive devices” and were removed from the property.
