On Thursday, August 14, 2025, a Marsall police officer saw a vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway in the 1500 block of W. Grand Avenue. The female driver told the officer she was robbed at gunpoint in a parking lot while there to meet someone who expressed interest in buying a pair of shoes she listed on Facebook Marketplace.
She provided officers with a photo of the suspect/purchaser, and after dispatching the suspect description, additional MPD units began searching the area.
Investigators received information that the teen lived in a nearby apartment complex. A search of the location turned up the shoes, a firearm that police believe was involved in the robbery, and multiple ID cards, credit, and debit cards related to recent car burglaries in the area.
MPD arrested the juvenile suspect and transported them to the Willoughby Detention Center; because of the offender’s age, no other identifying information will be publicized.
Residents are urged to be cautious when meeting individuals for online transactions. They suggest meeting in public, well-lit areas, preferably at the MPD’s designated Safe Exchange Zone.
While searching the area for the teen, Marshall police also arrested 25-year-old Anthony Culberson of Marshall. He was arrested for evading detention after fleeing from officers as they searched for the teen. Culberson was wanted in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation.
