The 0.75-mile trail will loop around the library property and connect via crosswalks to trail systems at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home and McCabe Park. The project is part of the library’s broader initiative to support community enrichment, including outdoor engagement and physical fitness.
Besides the functional benefits, Belt speaks on different opportunities the new portions of the trail may offer.

The trail is intended for walking, jogging and biking, and will be accessible to patrons of all ages. According to library officials, the addition aligns with efforts to position the library as a community hub not only for educational and informational services, but also for wellness opportunities.
“Way back when the Donald W. Reynolds Library Serving Baxter County was just a vision, we knew the library would become a community hub, and it certainly has turned out to be just that,” Beth VanderStek said. “So the idea that our community trail system will now connect to that community hub is beyond exciting.”
Beth VanderStek said the trail will help expand the library’s offerings to include physical wellness, in addition to its existing programs and resources.
