SCOTT, La. (
KLFY) — Today a homeowner in Scott was left with second-degree burns after a kitchen fire.
According to authorities, at 9 a.m., the Scott Fire Department responded to a reported residential fire in the 100 block of Burrow Drive.
Officials said when they arrived firefighters found the homeowner outside with burns to her hands and arms. After confirming that no occupants were inside the home, fire crews entered the residence and extinguished a small kitchen fire.
The homeowner received first aid until she was sent to a hospital with non-life-threatening, second-degree burns.
Officials said fire was accidental and appeared to originate from cooking. The home sustained minor fire damage.
No firefighters were injured during the incident
