UO golfer Kiara Romero shines in second round of The Standard Portland Classic

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The second round of The Standard Portland Classic at Columbia Edgewater finished up Friday afternoon and the 2025 Big Ten Champion is still in the mix.

University of Oregon star and amateur Kiara Romero is making the most of her sponsorship exemption. After shooting a 67 on Thursday, she shot 69 in Round 2, sitting at 8-under par in a tie for eighth. The 19-year-old is the top-ranked amateur in the world.

George Fox University’s top player, Allison Takamiya, finished two-over-par today and just missed the cut. She finished in a tie for 76th after shooting a 70 in Round 1 and a 74 in Round 2.
