The shooting occurred outside Club Metro on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive just after 2:00 a.m. on August 16, 2025.

“My prayers and condolences go out to his family and all the ones who were injured out here tonight. But we had three people that were shot. One succumbed to his injuries. The other two are expected to fully recover,” said Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade.

The three victims were transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson. The deceased victim was identified as Dameio Milton. Police are working on leads and said the shooting may be a retaliation to a mass shooting.

“We have been gleaning information this morning about what happened out here. We feel this may be retaliation for what happened at the Parlour Room on Sunday night, based on some initial information. We’re yet to confirm that,” said Wade.

According to the police chief, the club owner left the scene after the shooting and hasn’t spoken with police.

“I would like to see more of a willingness to work with law enforcement, instead of leaving the location after multiple people being shot at your location,” stated Wade.
