“K-9 Nyx is at it again,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement
On Aug. 14, members of the San Juan County Major Crimes and Drug Task Force made a traffic stop for a traffic infraction north of Blanding. During the stop, K-9 Nyx conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted officers to the odor of illegal drugs.

Deputies conducted a probable cause search and found approximately 104,000 suspected fentanyl pills — a total weight of around 23 pounds. The estimated street value of this amount of fentanyl is $225,000.
The driver was arrested and booked into San Juan County Jail.
“The investigation is active and no further information will be released at this time,” the sheriff’s office said.
The K-9 responsible for sniffing out the drugs involved in this bust — K-9 Nyx — had another major bust only two weeks ago, when she helped deputies find $1.2 million worth of fentanyl and heroin in a separate San Juan County traffic stop.
