Herman Fire near Benicia now 167 acres, 30% contained

(KRON) — A grass fire burning near Benicia in the 1500 block of Lake Herman Road has now blown up to 167 acres with 30% containment, according to fire officials. CalFire said forward progress on the blaze, which is in Cordelia, an unincorporated Solano County community, has been stopped.

Both air and ground resources have been deployed to fight the flames. CalFire personnel are working in unified command with the Benicia Fire Department to contain the fire. Firefighters continue to work on strengthening containment lines and putting out hot spots.

Lake Herman Road is currently closed, and fire officials urge caution if traveling in the area. No structures are currently threatened, according to the Benicia Fire Department.

Drifting smoke is impacting some areas of Benicia. Officials advise those affected to remain inside with doors and windows closed and A/C on to recirculate.
