At approximately 7:20 p.m. on Aug. 2, Colma police officers responded to a Home Depot on Colma Boulevard for the report of a theft. Police dispatch learned that a man had shoplifted roofing supplies and was standing in the parking lot near a Honda.
Arriving officers located a person who fit the suspect’s description. Home Depot’s loss prevention officer informed police that the suspect, who was identified as Yudes Cruzcastro, was the person who stole the roofing supplies.
Cruzcastro stole $2,724.84 worth of merchandise and was in possession of suspected methamphetamine, Colma PD said.
According to the police investigation, Cruzcastro was currently on probation with a neighboring county and had a $5,000 misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. He also had two or more prior theft convictions.
Cruzcastro, 41, was arrested and booked into San Mateo County Jail for grand theft, theft with priors, possession of a controlled substance, and his warrant.
