Driver, 72, arrested after fatal two-vehicle collision in Danville

(BCN) — A 72-year-old Danville man was arrested by Danville police Friday in connection with a two-vehicle collision that killed one person on March 1.

Andrew Chao is accused of vehicular manslaughter, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release. He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility and held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Danville police responded about 1:15 p.m. on March 1 to a collision between a minivan and a truck at the intersection of Sycamore Valley Road and Camino Ramon.

The truck overturned in the crash. A passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the minivan sustained minor injuries.
