Charlotte police, firefighters host rib-eating contest to support Special Olympics

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and Charlotte Fire Department got together for a friendly competition for a good cause.

The first responders faced off in a rib-eating contest Friday afternoon.

Nine police officers took on nine firefighters first, and then a battle between command members from both agencies happened right after.

The event was held at City Barbecue, which is donating 20 percent of its sales Friday to support the Special Olympics of North Carolina.
