According to police, the crash unfolded around 11:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Lower Wacker Drive.
Officers said a red SUV was heading west along Lower Wacker when the driver attempted to make a left turn. But officers said as the driver engaged in the turn, an eastbound black sedan, driven by a 19-year-old man with a 19-year-old woman sitting as a passenger, allegedly ran a red light and crashed into the SUV.
The driver and passenger in the SUV were not injured in the crash, but both individuals inside the black sedan suffered injuries.
The woman, who was a passenger in the sedan, was taken to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead while the man was listed in fair condition.
According to police, no citations have been issued and no arrests have been made.
Authorities have not yet identified the victim killed and an investigation by CPD Major Accident Detectives is underway.
