Woman killed, man injured in overnight crash along Lower Wacker Drive

CHICAGO (WGN) — A woman is dead and a man is recovering in the hospital after an overnight crash along Lower Wacker Drive in the Loop.

According to police, the crash unfolded around 11:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Lower Wacker Drive.

Officers said a red SUV was heading west along Lower Wacker when the driver attempted to make a left turn. But officers said as the driver engaged in the turn, an eastbound black sedan, driven by a 19-year-old man with a 19-year-old woman sitting as a passenger, allegedly ran a red light and crashed into the SUV.

The driver and passenger in the SUV were not injured in the crash, but both individuals inside the black sedan suffered injuries.
