All of those essential nutrients are included in a glass of cow’s milk, which is why it has been announced as the new “official beverage” of Indiana high school athletics.
Officials with the American Dairy Association Indiana Inc., along with the Indiana High School Athletic Association, made the announcement on Friday.
“Milk is a science-backed way to refuel, build muscle, hydrate and strengthen bones, making it the perfect choice for athletes to use to recover and gain a competitive edge in their sport,” Jenni Browning, the CEO at American Dairy Association Indiana Inc., said in a joint news release from the two associations. “We are proud to partner with IHSAA to bring education and nutrition to students across Indiana, while also supporting our state’s dairy farmers.”
The partnership will last three years, according to the release. Perks from the partnership are expected to include:
“Our goal at IHSAA is to ensure Indiana’s student athletes stay at the top of their game, both physically and mentally, and we are confident milk will give them the boost they need on the court and in the classroom,” Paul Neidig, IHSAA’s commissioner, said in the release. “We look forward to partnering with the American Dairy Association Indiana Inc. to fuel our students and strengthen Indiana’s legacy of high school athletics.”
