Investigators said they contacted family members, who assisted in encouraging Lorenza Fontenot to surrender, police said.
Early this morning, Fontenot was taken into custody and allegedly confessed to the homicide. Investigators said they believe the motive was related to an armed robbery of the victim.
According to police, they also arrested the homeowner, identified Sonnier. The investigation revealed that the homicide possibly occurred on Sunday and that Awen Fontenot allegedly remained deceased in the home for approximately 12 to 24 hours before being reported.
