This weekend in Philly: August 16 and 17 🌮🇮🇳🏮

(WPHL) – This weekend (August 16 and 17) is set to be jam-packed with events like the Festival of India, Philadelphia Taco Fest, the continuation of the Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival in Franklin Square, Parks on Tap, and much more. Festival of India is this Saturday:

  • Cherry Street Pier will transform this weekend as a part of PECO’s multicultural series celebrating the diverse communities of Philadelphia.
  • The FREE festival is happening Saturday, August 16th, from 2-8 pm with live bands, Bollywood performances, Indian cuisine, vendors, and much more.

8th Annual Philadelphia Taco Festival at XfinityLive!:

  • “The most anticipated food & entertainment festival of the year is taking place at Xfinity Live! This will be the BIGGEST 1 DAY TACO FESTIVAL IN HISTORY, so get ready for an action-packed day filled with a large variety of tacos, margaritas, games, and taco-themed fun all while being entertained by live bands on multiple stages, authentic Mariachi music, and so much more!” – Philadelphia Taco Festival

Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival in Franklin Square returns through August 31:

  • For 2025’s Year of the Snake, the Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival in Franklin Square will showcase magnificent giant lighted sculptures crafted from steel frames and wrapped in vibrant silk, blending light and culture. The popular 200-foot-long dragon returns along with never-before-seen giant lantern displays, with more lights, more lanterns, and more wattage than ever before. Visitors will embark on a magical journey through enchanting forest-themed displays and a radiant underwater realm, where lanterns and interactive delights showcase the splendor of China’s culture alongside diverse wildlife and vibrant marine wonders.
  • Tickets start at $16 and go up to $29 depending on age and day of visit.

Parks on Tap continues:

  • Stephen Girard Park
    • August 13- 17
    • Located HERE.
    • Parks on Tap began on April 9 with 20+ parks on the schedule.
    • On the menu, there is everything from an Adult Lunchable to a Loaded Mexican Hot Dog, and Cauliflower Banh Mi, to drinks including Hibiscus Lemonade, Spicy Mango Margarita, as well as Philly favorite drafts, cans, and more.
