Stolen mail suspect arrested with huge amount of meth in Redwood City

(KRON) — A suspect accused of breaking into mailboxes was caught with the stolen items and a large amount of suspected methamphetamine, said Redwood City police.

The incident happened Monday in the 400 block of Cork Harbour Circle.

Police said officers later found the vehicle matching the suspect description and detained the individual.

“A search revealed stolen mail and over one-half pound of suspected methamphetamine,” said police. “The suspect was booked into the San Mateo County Jail on theft and drug-related charges.”

Police are reminding residents of the following tips to help prevent being a potential victim of mail theft:

  • Collect your mail promptly after delivery.
  • Use a locked or USPS-approved secure mailbox.
  • When traveling, place a Hold Mail request with the Post Office.
  • Report suspicious activity around mailboxes immediately.

Community members are encouraged by the Redwood City Police Department to call (650) 780-7100 if they see something suspicious.
