Illinois State Police announce change to human trafficking laws

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — Illinois is stepping up its fight against human trafficking.

Yesterday Governor Jb Pritzker signed the “Illinois Statewide Trauma Informed Response To Human Trafficking Act.” It brings state agencies together to better spot and support survivors setting new care standards and training for service providers.

The law also expands law enforcement task forces in areas that don’t have them and it requires courts to consider victims’ ages when sentencing traffickers.
