Heat advisory in place across Kansas
KANSAS (KSNT) – A heat advisory is in place across the state of Kansas as the heat index is expected to enter the triple digits.

On Friday, Aug. 15, the National Weather Service (NWS)issued a heat advisory that will start at 1 p.m. and last until 8 p.m. on Saturday. The NWS predicts heat index values will be around 103 degrees.

27 News Meteorologist Ely Millard says the forecasted high on both days is 95 and 96 degrees.

The NWS says the high heat could cause cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk, the NWS recommends wearing light loose-fitting clothing, avoiding strenuous activities and take action if you experience symptoms of heat stroke. The NWS says to call 911 if someone starts to have heat stroke.
