Bloomington, IN will celebrate its 2025 Pridefest on August 23 in downtown Kirkwood. The Pridefest kicks off at 2:00p and has activities going throughout the day, until 11:00p. Now in its eleventh year, Bloomington Pridefest invites thousands of people in Bloomington and surrounding areas to celebrate and connect all LGBTQIA+ hoosiers.
All are welcome to come down to Kirkwood where there will be food trucks, drag, live music, poetry, DJs, comedy, line dancing, face painting, food trucks, gender-affirming closet, and over 150+ vendors lined up on Kirkwood and Grant street. Donations for the Gender-Affirming Closet are open through August 16 at the drop-off locations The Back Door, The Atlas Bar, Cat’s Closet, and Office Clothier.
Pridefest Chair Zachary Taylor says, “Pridefest brings the beautiful groups of LGBTQIA+ people in Bloomington and the surrounding communities together in one cohesive space. We get to showcase some of the brightest rising stars in our community and highlight the hard-working change-makers who strengthen our community and enable its success. The fest serves as a reminder that we have each other, even in the darkest of times, and we can unite as an unstoppable force.”
There are a few queer-forward events happening around town to kick off the 2025 Pridefest celebration. On Friday, August 15th, The Back Door will host a Queer Open Mic night at 7:00p. On Tuesday, August 18, The Blockhouse will host Queer Tonk at 8:30p. On Wednesday, August 20, Gather will host a Pridefest fundraiser variety show “Pride-O-Scope.” The Back Door will host a show benefitting Lysistrata Co-op on Thursday, August 21 and their annual “Big Gay Kickoff” drag show on Friday, August 22, both at 9:00p.
