Hana, located at 101 Golf Course Drive, did not provide a reason for the decision to close. Owner Emiko Tominaga hinted that the business will be back in some capacity.
“We will be able to meet you all again as Hana in a different way,” she wrote in a letter posted on Instagram. “We will definitely contact you all. I hope to see you again someday. Thank you very much for all these years.”
Emiko did not provide further details about Hana’s potential comeback.
“Sending tons of love and support to you and your family. Ken-San was my friend and sake mentor. So many memories w my kids and family there too,” one Hana customer commented on social media.
The closure comes three years after Emiko’s husband Ken, who founded the restaurant in 1990, passed away at the age of 62. Ken’s son, Keita, took over the restaurant.
Ken was described as “a self-motivated man dedicated to defining his own meaning of wealth in life through cooking, surfing, golfing, being a father, and simply existing in the present,” a social media post announcing his death reads.
Hana announced Thursday a sneak peek of the menu for its first pop-up “Ramen Tomi.” The menu features ramen bowls and gyozas. The pop-up will be at 210 Healdsburg Ave. in Healdsburg on Aug. 18 from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.
