Charlotte gears up for 2025 Pride Parade and Festival this weekend

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Uptown is getting ready to shine with color, music, and celebration as the 2025 Charlotte Pride Festival and Parade rolls into town this weekend.

The two-day event is one of the city’s biggest celebrations of LGBTQ+ culture and community, and it’s expected to bring hundreds of thousands of people to the Queen City.

Crews were already hard at work on Friday at First Ward Park, unloading trucks and taping off spaces for vendors and sponsors. The area is being transformed into a festival ground.

The fun kicks off Saturday at noon, with live entertainment, food trucks, and family-friendly activities running through 11 p.m. The highlight of the weekend, the Charlotte Pride Parade, steps off Sunday at 1 p.m., making its way down Tryon Street.

Road closures

With so many people expected, drivers should prepare for major road closures throughout Uptown. Starting on Friday at 9:30 a.m., both 8th Street between College and Caldwell and North Brevard between 6th and 9th are closed.

Additional closures will follow:

  • Saturday–Sunday: More sections of Brevard and 7th Street will close
  • Sunday: Tryon Street and surrounding east-west streets will begin closing as early as 7 a.m.

Officials are urging everyone to use public transportation or ride-sharing services. The event is easily accessible via the 7th and 9th Street light rail stations, organizers said.

Locally-grown artists, popular food vendors, and even some big-name performers are all set to bring the energy throughout the weekend.
