Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Reportedly Set to Skip Nintendo Switch 2 at Launch, Release Date and Price Have Leaked

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 looks set to skip the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch, despite parent company Microsoft’s “binding 10-year legal agreement” to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo platforms.

In 2023, as part of its push to get its Activision Blizzard acquisition cleared through the courts, Microsoft promised to release future Call of Duty games “with full feature and content parity” on Nintendo platforms on the same day as Xbox.

Under the contract Nintendo owners will be able to “experience Call of Duty just as Xbox and PlayStation gamers enjoy Call of Duty,” Microsoft said at the time. Call of Duty has not been available on Nintendo since 2013’s Call of Duty: Ghosts for Wii U.

However, according to reliable leaker billbil-kun (via Dealabs), Black Ops 7 is slated for release on November 14, 2025 on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Now, Black Ops 7 may eventually launch on Switch 2, but as it stands, it won’t make Nintendo’s new console alongside Xbox.

In June, in the wake of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s announcement, both Activision and Nintendo were said to be working on getting the long-running first-person shooter franchise on Switch. In a statement released to IGN, Activision said it and Nintendo were still working on bringing Call of Duty to Switch: “We’re committed to getting the franchise on Switch. Both teams are working on it. Will share details when ready.”

Meanwhile, billbil-kun said the Xbox versions will get a physical release with disc included, in contrast to recent Microsoft Xbox games.

As for the price, Black Ops 7 reportedly costs 79.99 euros, which suggests $69.99 in the U.S. In July, Microsoft announced that it would not be selling Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds 2 — or any of its holiday games, for that matter — for $80 after initially announcing plans to hike video game prices beyond $70. The expectation was Black Ops 7 would thus stick to $70, and based on billbil-kun’s report, that will indeed be the case.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be revealed live on August 19 during Opening Night Live at gamescom. We’ll learn more then.
