PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Super Bowl champion and one of the newest Seattle Seahawks wide receivers Cooper Kupp has completed his first training camp in his home state.

The Hawks signed Kupp earlier this year after the team saw a number of dramatic shifts. This included the departure of longtime fan favorite WR Tyler Lockett, as well as trading QB Geno Smith and WR DK Metcalf.

The 32-year-old played college football at Eastern Washington University (EWU) before being drafted into the NFL by the Los Angeles Rams. He comes to Seattle after eight years in California, which included Super Bowl MVP honors, an AP Offensive Player of the Year award, and Pro-Bowl honors.

The Yakima, Wash. native touched on how he’s looking forward to playing for the remainder he rooted for growing up, “I don’t just want to be an impactful player, I want to be an impactful person for this organization. I feel great right now, I’m really excited for the season and excited to get this thing rolling.”

He continued, “I’m trying to enjoy the journey, and what that means. Also, not being so reliant on the end result. Those are fleeting moments and you don’t have control of it. If you get lost in the wins, you’ll never find joy.”

Another major addition to the Seahawks is former Minnesota quarterback Sam Darnold. This new pair will likely be the heart of Seattle’s offense. The 28-year-old was drafted No. 3 by the New York Jets in 2018.

Kupp commented on practicing with Darnold for the first time, saying, “Sam and his experiences go a long way. I’m asking him a lot of questions about what’s worked for him, how he’s seeing concepts come to life. It’s been really fun to bounce ideas off each other.”

The Seahawks will kick off the regular season at home Sept. 7th against the 49ers.
