Pedestrian critically injured after being hit on I-55 in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A pedestrian was critically injured after being hit by a vehicle in Jackson.

The incident occurred near the Lakeland Drive exit on Interstate 55 South just after 9:15 p.m. on August 13.

Bailey Martin, spokesperson for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (MDPS), said the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with Capitol police. The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital and is in critical condition.

Martin said no foul play is suspected. The investigation is ongoing.
