Off-duty Springdale fireman, paramedic killed in ATV accident in Baxter County

An off-duty Springdale fireman and paramedic was killed in an ATV accident last Thursday in Baxter County. The victim is identified as 36-year-old Anthony Michael Spero of Farmington.
According to the accident report from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, Spero was negotiating a turn when the ATV started swerving, crossed over to the wrong side of the road and Spero eventually lost control. The vehicle came to rest upside down off the roadway.

When the deputy arrived, the victim was lying outside of the vehicle, unconscious. There were indications Spero had gotten out of the vehicle, but then later fell unconscious. Spero was pronounced dead at the scene.

Spero had his three-year-old son on the ATV with him and a passerby said the child was crawling around when they came up on the accident. The boy was checked out by paramedics and released to his mother with only some scrapes and bruises. She told the deputy they had been boating all day.

The accident happened at 4:45 last Thursday on Float Creek Road in the Henderson area.

According to a social media post by the Springdale Fire Department, Spero had been with the Springdale department since 2015. He also served with the Tonitown Fire Department.
