A grand opening ceremony was held at 9 a.m. with shoppers lined up outside waiting to get in.
“We’re like snowflakes in the world of grocery stores, every one is different. This store, the brass band, the leis, the wood doubloon, the art work on the walls was all done by a local artist. He’s one of our crew members in Metairie, and we spent a lot of time making sure it was tailored to New Orleans,” said Store Captain Rachelle Haddad-Martinez.
The new location is located in Mid City at 2501 Tulane Ave.
Other Trader Joe’s locations across the state are Baton Rouge and Metairie. A second New Orleans location is expected to open at 2428 Napoleon Ave.
