The U.S. Marshals Service says 31-year-old Malcolm Kohn was wanted in Leflore County, Mississippi, in connection with the shooting death of Joshua Brewer earlier this month.
Investigators say Brewer was shot on August 4 in front of a business in Greenwood, Mississippi. He was rushed to a local hospital but later died from his injuries.
The following day, Leflore County authorities issued a murder warrant for Kohn, and the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force took over the search. Information from the task force led investigators to believe Kohn was in Memphis.
On August 13, members of the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force and Memphis Police Department Fugitive Apprehension Team went to a home in the 900 block of Greer Street.
According to Marshals, Kohn was found hiding under a bed and refused to surrender. A Marshals K-9 was deployed, prompting Kohn to give himself up.
He was booked into the Shelby County Jail and is awaiting extradition back to Mississippi.
