Meeker County church completely lost in fire

A church in Meeker County is a complete loss after it was destroyed in a fire, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities said a passerby was driving near the 54900 block of 145th Street in Cosmos Township on Highway 4 when they spotted an orange glow around 1:31 a.m. Thursday.

Investigating its source, the passerby discovered the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cosmos was on fire and called emergency services.

The church is considered a total loss, but no one was injured.

The Minnesota Fire Marshall was called to the scene to help investigate what caused the fire.
