Eric Dewayne Coleman, 38, led law enforcement on a chase after the attempted traffic stop in Ascension Parish, according to the Louisiana State Police.
They said he was charged with aggravated flight, aggravated obstruction of a highway of commerce, and numerous traffic violations.
LSP said Coleman drove over 100 mph at times during the chase. Authorities stated Coleman committed numerous traffic violations and entered residential areas before crashing into a telephone pole.
The 38-year-old almost hit two LSP units before trying to run away, law enforcement added. Coleman was taken into custody soon after.
The Baton Rouge Police Department assisted with Coleman’s arrest.
There is no word yet on what charges Coleman will face.
