NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A commemoration was held in Lakeview remembering Hurricane Katrina Wednesday, Aug. 13.
It was held at the St. Dominic Catholic Church on Harrison Avenue. They recalled what was lost in the storm and how the neighborhood recovered. The event included scripture, prayer and reflection.
Other areas across southeast Louisiana are commemorating the Katrina anniversary. Plaquemines and St. Bernard Parishes will host ceremonies on Aug. 29. The city of New Orleans is planning an anniversary summit as well.
