Former Port Allen mayor accused of sexual misconduct involving juvenile

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A former Port Allen mayor was arrested after allegations of sexual misconduct with a juvenile.

Derek Lewis, 64, of Addis, was charged with indecent behavior with a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

The West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said an investigation started Monday after detectives got a complaint regarding allegations. Lewis is accused of giving alcohol to the juvenile before engaging in indecent behavior.

Deputies said no bond has been set yet for Lewis.

According to WBRSO, more charges and additional arrests are possible. An investigation is ongoing.

Lewis was previously sentenced in June 2012 after pleading guilty to violating the RICO Act while serving as mayor. The corruption case was tied to an operation that involved several mayors in the Baton Rouge region.
