DPS: Woman charged with Intoxication Manslaughter after crash kills 2 people in Blanco County

AUSTIN (KXAN) —  A woman who police believe was driving under the influence and caused a crash that killed two people in Blanco County on Sunday was arrested, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) said. 

At around 2:43 p.m. on Sunday, DPS said it responded to a three-vehicle crash on Ranch Road 165. 

Preliminary investigation indicated an SUV, driven by Jackson, was traveling on Ranch Road 165 when it rear-ended an SUV. That vehicle spun out into the opposite lane and was hit by another vehicle, DPS said.

Authorities said Alexandra Jackson left the scene, was later located and arrested.

Two people in the vehicle were pronounced dead, DPS said. They are identified as Cynthia Schade and Donna Stevens. Two others in a separate vehicle were taken to a hospital for injuries, DPS said.  

Jackson is facing the following charges, according to DPS:

• Two counts of Intoxication Manslaughter
• Two counts of Intoxication Assault
• Two counts of Accident Involving Death
• Two counts of Accident Involving Serious Bodily Injury
• Two counts of Tampering with Evidence
• Possession of Marijuana (under two ounces)
